Rocket Lab has proved something very important about rocket engine design: an engine is as reliable as its pumps.
A rocket engine is a pump system with some peripherals. Engine design starts with the pumps. The pumps determine the amount and flow rate of the fuels, which in turn determines the size of the combustion chamber, the chamber pressure and the shape of the nozzle.
